Privacy Policy

Sunreach for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch · Effective 28 October 2026

Sunreach has no accounts, no ads, no analytics of our own and no tracking. Your location and camera are used on your device to plan light. To show terrain, maps, place names and weather the app asks a few services for data about the area you plan, and those services see that area and your IP address. We do not sell or share personal data.

Who we are

Sunreach is made by Jaka Azman s.p., Mala Loka 5, 1230 Domžale, Slovenia ("we"). Contact: azman.jaka@gmail.com. We are the controller for the little data described here, under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Location

With your permission ("While Using the App"), Sunreach reads your location to plan light where you stand, to turn the map with the compass, and to show the sun's path in AR. Your location is processed on your device. It is not stored on our servers and not linked to you. You can turn location off at any time in Settings; the app still works for places you search or pick on the map.

Camera

AR mode uses the camera to draw the sun's path and the skyline over what you see. To line the view up, the app looks at small, low-resolution copies of camera frames a few times a second. This happens only on your device. When you tap the shutter, the photo or video you take, with the sun's path drawn in, is saved to your photo library (with your permission, "Add Photos Only"). Sunreach cannot see the rest of your library and does not upload anything you take.

What leaves your device

To plan a spot the app requests data about the area around it. Each request contains the area (map tile numbers, a bounding box or a coordinate) and, like any internet request, your IP address. It never contains your name or an account, and apart from Mapbox's own statistics (below) no device identifier.

The Mapbox map sends Mapbox usage, performance and diagnostic statistics with a random identifier not linked to you, which can include your location while the map is open, under the Mapbox Privacy Policy. You can turn this off in the map's ⓘ menu ("Telemetry"), or switch the map style to Apple's in Sunreach's menu.

Apple handles data under the Apple Privacy Policy. The other services may keep standard server logs (IP address, time, request) for security and operation. Our own server keeps cached terrain, place-name and building answers, which are about places, not people, and no logs that identify you beyond Cloudflare's short-lived security logs.

On your device

Light alerts are local notifications planned on your device; widgets, the Live Activity and the Apple Watch app read your saved spots from the phone, not from a server. Saved spots, your settings and downloaded terrain stay on your device. The app does not use iCloud for them yet. Deleting the app deletes them.

Purchases

If you buy Sunreach Pro, Apple processes the payment and any subscription renewal. We receive no payment details, only Apple's confirmation of what was bought, which the app checks on your device.

Waitlist on sunreach.app

If you join the waitlist on our website, we keep your email address to tell you when Sunreach is on the App Store and, now and then, to send news about Sunreach. You confirm the address through a link we email you (double opt-in). The list is kept by our email provider Kit (Kit Inc., USA), which processes it for us under its data processing agreement, including the EU Standard Contractual Clauses for the transfer to the USA. Kit may record whether an email was opened or a link in it clicked. The waitlist is not linked to the app. Every email has an unsubscribe link; you can also write to us. We delete your address when you unsubscribe, or once we stop sending news about Sunreach.

Legal basis and retention

Location and camera are used only with your consent (the iOS permission), which you can withdraw in Settings. Requests to the services above are needed to provide the features you use (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). The waitlist is based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw by unsubscribing. Apart from a waitlist address, we keep no personal data about you; cached terrain and names expire on their own.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct and delete personal data, to object and to restrict processing, and to complain to a supervisory authority: in Slovenia the Information Commissioner (Informacijski pooblaščenec). Unless you joined the waitlist, we hold no personal data about you, and a request to us will usually confirm exactly that. Write to us any time.

Children

Sunreach is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal data from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be in the app and on our website with a new effective date. Material changes will be noted in the release notes.
