Why does Sunreach show a different time from my weather app?
A weather app gives sunrise and sunset for a flat horizon. Sunreach checks the real skyline of the spot, so the sun can reach you later in the morning and leave earlier in the evening where mountains, hills or buildings are in the way. How the times are worked out →
How accurate are the times?
That depends on the terrain data for the place. Worldwide the app uses 30 m elevation data; many countries have much finer 2 m laser-scan ground data. Trees and buildings are not counted in the times for now. Trees, snow, new buildings and haze that are not in the data are not counted. Treat the times as a planning aid. Current data coverage →
The app asks for my location and camera. Do I have to allow them?
No. Location lets the app plan light where you stand and turn the map with the compass. The camera is used only in AR mode, on your device. You can still plan any place you search for or pick on the map without either. You can change both any time in iOS Settings → Sunreach.
Why can I only use AR where I am standing?
AR draws the sun's path over what the camera sees, so it only makes sense at your own position. For a place you are not at, use the 3D view with Eye level.
The terrain is blank or slow to load.
The app downloads terrain for the area around the spot, so it needs an internet connection the first time. Offline regions can be downloaded in advance from the menu. Check your connection and try again; if it keeps happening, write to us with the place.
What data do you collect?
Sunreach has no accounts, ads or tracking, and no analytics of its own. Read the privacy policy → · Terms of use →
